How to Play 67DLE
A comprehensive guide to game rules, mathematical order of operations, game modes, and proven strategies to reach your target number.
1. What is 67DLE?
67DLE is a daily mathematical puzzle game inspired by Wordle and mental arithmetic challenges. Unlike word-guessing games, 67DLE exercises pure logic and computational skill: you are tasked with reaching a specific target number using only the digits 6 and 7 combined with the fundamental arithmetic operators (+, -, ×, and /).
Whether you play the official Daily Challenge with fellow puzzle fans around the globe or sharpen your mind in Random Practice mode, 67DLE offers three distinct gameplay experiences: Equation 67, Arrange 67, and Crossword 67.
2. Game Mode 1: Equation 67
In Equation 67, each round presents a target number shown prominently in the header (for example: TARGET: 49 or TARGET: 85).
- Allowed Digits: You may only use the digits 6 and 7. You can combine them into multi-digit numbers such as
66,67,76, or77. - Allowed Operators: Addition (
+), Subtraction (-), Multiplication (×), and Division (/). - Objective: Construct an equation whose mathematical evaluation exactly equals the target.
- Submitting & Attempt History: Type your arithmetic expression and press ENTER. The game's engine calculates the exact mathematical value of your formula:
Feedback & Validation System:
- Green Tiles & Victory: When your equation evaluates exactly to the target number, all tiles highlight in vivid green with a celebratory bounce animation, opening the win modal with your statistics!
- Red Flash & Result Notice: If your equation evaluates to a different number, the board flashes red and shakes, displaying a banner with your calculated result (e.g. "Your result is 48, not 40").
- Live Attempt History: Every attempt is logged below the board in the Attempt History list, displaying your formula alongside its evaluated result. Use this history to deduce whether your next equation needs to be larger or smaller to reach the target!
3. Game Mode 2: Arrange 67
In Arrange 67, you are given an exact set of pre-selected tiles on your keyboard. Your goal is to rearrange every single tile into a valid arithmetic formula that equals exactly 67.
- Every tile must be used: You cannot leave any tile unused.
- Single-use tiles: Each tile provided in the dynamic tray can be placed exactly once.
- Target is always 67: The final result of the expression must equal sixty-seven.
- No cheating: You cannot simply enter the digits 6 and 7 side-by-side as a standalone 67 if the challenge requires an operational breakdown.
4. Game Mode 3: Crossword 67
In Crossword 67, you are presented with a 5×5 grid containing intersecting horizontal and vertical equation slots.
- Dual-Axis Equality: Every horizontal row and vertical column containing an equation must evaluate to 67 simultaneously.
- Interactive Navigation: Tap or click any cell to set your active cursor. Tap again to toggle between typing horizontally (across) and vertically (down).
- Real-time Feedback: Validated rows and columns highlight in crisp green as soon as their equation matches 67 according to correct mathematical rules.
5. Order of Operations (PEMDAS / BODMAS)
Understanding operator precedence is essential to mastering 67DLE. The game evaluates expressions strictly according to standard mathematical convention:
2. Addition (+) and Subtraction (-) are evaluated next, from left to right.
Important Examples:
Consider the expression 6 + 7 × 6:
- Incorrect (Linear left-to-right):
(6 + 7) × 6 = 13 × 6 = 78— Wrong! - Correct (PEMDAS/BODMAS):
6 + (7 × 6) = 6 + 42 = 48— Correct!
Consider 76 - 6 × 7:
- First multiply:
6 × 7 = 42. - Then subtract:
76 - 42 = 34.
Consider division: 66 / 6 + 76:
- First divide:
66 / 6 = 11. - Then add:
11 + 76 = 87.
6. Winning Strategies & Pro Tips
1. Deconstruct the Target into Factors
When given a large target in Equation 67, ask yourself: Can this target be reached by multiplying 6 or 7? For example, multiples of 7 are 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49, 56, 63, 70, 77. If your target is 49, immediately think: 7 × 7 = 49 or 6 × 7 + 7 = 49.
2. Leverage Two-Digit Base Numbers
Don't limit yourself to single digits. You can combine 6 and 7 to create 66, 67, 76, and 77. For target 40, you can start from 76: 76 - 6 × 6 = 76 - 36 = 40.
3. Parity Analysis (Odd vs Even)
Notice that 6 is even and 7 is odd. Multiplying any integer by 6 yields an even number (6 × 7 = 42, 6 × 6 = 36). Adding or subtracting 7 changes parity between odd and even. If your target is odd, your equation must include an odd number of odd terms!
4. Work Backwards
If the target is 61, think: What operation plus or minus 6 or 7 gives 61? For instance: 67 - 6 = 61. Or 54 + 7 = 61 (and 54 is 6 × 9, but since 9 is not allowed, you can use 6 × 7 + 19 or other combinations).
